8.11 Choking

Purpose

The Choking course addresses the recognition and emergency management of airway obstruction caused by foreign bodies. Learners gain an understanding of the pathophysiology of choking, airway assessment, immediate life-saving interventions, and post-event care, with emphasis on rapid response, effective airway clearance, and patient stabilization in prehospital and aeromedical environments.
