Purpose

The Pediatric Patient course focuses on the unique clinical and operational considerations involved in transporting infants and children during aeromedical evacuation. Learners develop an understanding of pediatric physiology, age-specific assessment, and common risks in flight (eg, hypoxia sensitivity, temperature instability, dehydration, and rapid clinical deterioration). The module also covers practical aspects such as safe positioning, monitoring priorities, communication with caregivers, and ensuring comfort while maintaining strict safety standards throughout the mission.
